Senator Dennis Patterson receives GPRC Distinguished Alumni Award 2011

On March 8, GPRC recognized Senator Dennis Patterson with the Distinguished Alumni Award 2011. Senator Patterson was a student in the charter class of 1966 at Grande Prairie Junior College and was the first Students' Association President. Mr. Patterson was unable to attend the presentation, however, he sent a video message. In it, he fondly recalled his experience at GPJC. "It was where I experienced for myself the benefits of the smaller post-secondary institution close to home," he said. "My excellent college experiences in Grande Prairie were on my mind when, many years later as Minister of Education for the Northwest Territories, I took the opportunity, despite doubters and nay-sayers, to introduce and see passage of the Arctic College Act."

For an full, in-depth interview with the Senator, be sure to read "In Conversation" in the Spring 2011 Wisdom magazine.
