Security for Faculty & Staff at GPRC

Important Points:

• If you see suspicious people hanging around, are receiving strange calls, or feel threatened in any way, please contact All Peace Protection Campus security at 780 539-2700 (Grande Prairie) or RCMP 911. For the Fairview campus, please contact APP Campus Security at 780 835-1164 and the inside Campus Security Guard at 780 835-9519
• If you feel uncomfortable with someone at your office, trust your instinct and make sure you make them aware that you are not intimidated by their presence.

• Follow the "Work Alone Policy". When you are working alone, you should contact APP Grande Prairie and Fairview Campus Security and advise them of your location and time frame for how long you will be at the campus. Security will then check on you to make sure you are safe and the environment is secure.

• When you are working in your office late, you should lock your door so that no one unwanted can enter your work space.

• Be familiar with your surroundings and make sure you are aware of the closest exit and help phone. Please be aware that all security "Blue Phones" will contact security immediately once activated. These phones are located both on the interior and exterior of the GPRC. For Fairview Campus, it is important to be familiar with the two Fairview Security numbers so that when you are in need the security guards can be available

• Never leave handbags and purses on or beneath your desk while your office is unattended.

• Always keep your house, car or office keys in a safe place. Do not leave them in your office unattended.

• Make sure all office windows are secured and offices are locked when you're absent, whether it be for the day or periodically.

• If you see any strangers walking around in restricted areas, please do not hesitate to question their motives or purpose in the area. This will usually scare away any possible criminals. Also, contact GPRC Campus Security
• All Peace Protection offers a "Safe Walk Program". If you feel unsafe and would like an escort to and from your vehicle or dorm, a security guard will assist.
